Posing and Body Language

Hey guys and gals,
Just looking through animation mentor students' reels for class 3 pantomime, you will see many strong examples of how posing and body language can be used to express character. Often, story be told from a single pose.

Samy Fecih, a character animator at Double Negative, has written a series for cg channel.com discussing posing and body language. I particular like the point raised about silhouettes, presenting a clip of Jim Carrey to show how to control where you want the audience to look. Another fine point is highlighting the work of contortionist Captain Frodo to show that even in real life, our bodies are more flexible than we first think.

Hope you enjoy!
